Our Team

Claire Barczak

Hello! I'm currently a senior studying digital media and film production. My two current jobs include working as a studio and video equipment technician for the University of Minnesota and in the production management department of Committee Films, where I help produce TV shows for the History Chanel and ABC.

I've owned my own horse, Tucker, for five years. We've shown at 4-H shows, WSCA shows, and the Minnesota State Fair. The equestrian team has enabled me to continue riding during the school year and meet new people. Although IHSA is very challenging, it's made me a much better equestrian!

Maddie Eaton

Vice President

Hey there! I am a senior from Orono, Minnesota studying Strategic Communications and Public Health. I have been riding and showing horses since I was eight years old. Outside of the team, I show my horse, Casey, on the WSCA and ApHC circuits. This is my fourth year as a member of the Western Team.

Maedelin Arbeiter

Hunt Team Captain

Hi! I am a junior from Maple Grove, MN studying psychology and business management hoping to one day be a certified equine assisted psychotherapist. I grew up riding western but made the switch to hunt seat when I came to the U, definitely the best decision of my life! I am a firm believer that days spent at the barn are days well spent. This will be my second year as the Hunt Seat Team Captain.

Western Team Captain

Hi! I'm a junior studying Animal Science with an Equine emphasis, and I've been with Minnesota Equestrian since my freshman year. I show my mare, Penny, on the Pinto and WSCA circuits in all-around pleasure events. If you catch us at a show, don't hesitate to say hi! The horsemanship class is one of my favorites, and IHSA puts a great twist on it that allows for continued improvement year after year. It's an awesome chance to try a unique form of showing horses while having fun with our horse-loving team!

Jenna Richardson

Hey there! My name is Jenna and I'm super stoked to be an officer this year! I will be a Junior double majoring in Graphic Design and Art. I do not own any horses but have been riding horses since I was 7 years old. I love to ride English and Jump. This will be my third year on the team and I couldn't be more excited for it! I have met some of my best friends by being apart of this club and I cannot wait to meet more!

Elise Armstrong

Hello, my name is Elise and I am excited to be serving as Treasurer for my fifth and final year at the U while finishing my biology major in the College of Biological Sciences. Outside of the team and studying, I spend most of my free time working with my eventing horse Shrek, and we will compete in our first horse trial together this fall. I have been a member of the hunt team since my sophomore year, and through the team I have not only bettered my riding, but also made friendships that will long outlast my last year in school.

Madelyn Leier

Hello! I am a sophomore from Shakopee, Minnesota. At the university, I am pursuing a B.S. degree in Animal Science while preparing for medical school. My experience with horses began with trail riding at a very young age. Although I grew up without a horse of my own, I remained passionate throughout the years, and I am now fulfilling my childhood dream of showing horses on the Minnesota Equestrian Western Team. The 2017-2018 season will be my first year as Fundraising Chair and second year as a show team member.
